Teacher's Fun Resources for May’s Asian and Pacific Islander Month

I’m having so much fun finding resources for May’s Asian and Pacific Islander month! As a middle school teacher, I found these great videos by ukulele player Jake Shimabokuro explaining math through music. They are short and very entertaining - I hope you are able to grab these links! My students enjoyed them even on a Friday!

In one of my folk song collections, I have songs from Asia and from the Maui people from New Zealand. Here are some recommendations - Sakura, Haida, The Snake Charmer, Tsuki, Jingli Nona, Ali Baba’s Farm, Arirang, Huri Huri, and Glides Our Canoe.

I included my top 3 favorite songs for you - check them out below! I also have viola and bass clef versions too!
